Curry fish balls are a product of the 1950s and 1960s. At that time, street noodle stalls were cheap. To reduce the cost, they used Teochew whitefish eggs, or less fresh fish meat, and fried them in a spoon. Unexpectedly, they became very popular and are now the mainstay of street food in Hong Kong.
